1. Am I a good candidate for dental implants? How do I know for sure?

A good candidate for dental implants is one who:

  • Is missing one or more teeth
  • Has difficulty chewing their food
  • Has loose dentures or loose teeth
  • Has food particles get stuck under their bridge
  • Is a non-smoker

The best way to know if you are a good candidate or not is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Song. He will be able to go over your dental history with you and help you determine if you would be a good fit. At Access Dental Care in Reno, we are here for you.

2. Will dental x-rays be required? Are they safe? Can I avoid them and just tell you what the problem is?

While it would be easier this way, we do need to take dental x-rays before treatment can be provided. The reason is because there are many dental conditions that manifest as others and there may be hidden problems deep within the bones. You never want a dentist to just take your word for it and provide treatment as this can lead to unnecessary procedures and become dangerous. The x-rays are safe and will not cause any lasting damage.

3. Why should I choose a dentist who specializes in dental implants?

You should choose a dentist who specializes in dental implants because this means they received an additional three to four years of schooling after dental school. They have been trained in and studied dental implants in depth and they can provide you with the care and services you need. This also ensures that the specialist is competent in his or her duties and will be able to implant the posts properly. A small mistake can lead to total implant failure.

4. How many surgeries are required for the extraction of my teeth and the placement of dental implants?

This is tricky because you have a couple of options. We can extract your teeth and place implants the SAME day, which would require only one appointment. Otherwise, you would have the extractions performed one day and the implants another.

If you would like to discuss your options with Dr. Song, call Access Dental Care today. We provide the best dental implant care in Reno, NV and we cannot wait to provide you with the consultation and information you need to be successful and have a beautiful smile.
